Jigsaw

there's still a spot where nickels get lost
inside the couch that the neighbors left out
with a sign that said free
the puzzle's complete except for the piece
that we couldn't find when we were both trying
on hands and knees
a jigsaw of love lost and scattered
and after things had healed a bit
a picture is finished or shattered and sadder
when all the pieces fit
somebody's got the world in a box
in various seasons with edges so even
and corners so clean
