I'm Sorry, Little Girl

Orphaned children who beg and sleep on the streets are called "Kkotjebi". They live around train stations and search through the rubbish left by passengers when trains stop.
They don’t live long. These children cling to moving trains and sometimes fall off or get hit and killed. When they die, people don’t cover their bodies but take their clothes to dress their own children.
Their fate is very cruel.
The train I was on stopped and a girl among the kotjebi came out and started singing to beg for food.
I'm an orphan with no one,
Even if I die,
who'll bury me?
I'm an orphan with no one,
Even if I die,
Who'll visit my grave?
Please give me some food
To the poor me
Please give me some food
To the poor me
I lie in the field,
covered by the sky, and sleep
I'm an orphan with no one

Is this really a song for a child to sing?
If this girl hadn’t been born in this country,
her life would have been different
Who took this girl’s parents from her?
Who took this girl’s laughter from her?
Who took this girl’s dreams from her?
I’m sorry for making you use your sweet voice to beg
I’m sorry for making you the streets your home
I’m sorry for making your dreams a luxury for you
I'm sorry,
I’m sorry,
I’m sorry, little girl
