Daisy in My Pocket

I almost told you yesterday  
When you laughed at something I didn’t say  
Had a daisy, picked it on my way  
Thought of you... but I hid it away  
Kept it safe in my coat's front side  
Right next to the place where my secrets hide  
It wasn’t the moment—too many eyes  
But my heart? Oh, it whispered a thousand tries  
I wonder if you'd smile or shy away  
If I handed you flowers without a word to say  
But I’m not that brave, not yet, not quite  
So I just walked home in the golden light  
It’s still there—this little sign  
A daisy I keep where you might never find  
But if one day your fingers brush past mine…  
You’ll know I was yours before any sign
