Star

someone said your name outside
I don’t know why it stuck in my mind
streetlights buzzing in their own time
random chatter cutting through the night
you were the line
and suddenly everything felt right
we walked around with no plan
sharing stories only we’d understand
easy laughs, slipping out of hand
kinda felt like it was something
Baby you’re my star
not the kind that’s distant and far
just the one that rides in my car
talking ’bout nothing,
shining up close
You’re my star
showing up when days get hard
quick breaks at the corner shop
Right place, right time that’s you
light steps moving in a steady groove
you are the calm that my days fall into
Right place, right time that’s you
light steps moving in a steady groove
you don’t try but you light the room
plain white tee, same old shoes
you like songs with a lazy groove
guess that’s why I lean on you
and something gentle crossed my mind
quiet signs falling into line
kinda felt like it was something
Baby you’re my star
not the kind that’s distant and far
just the one that rides in my car
talking ’bout nothing,
shining up close
You’re my star
showing up when days get hard
quick breaks at the corner shop
stay close, don’t drift out of line
your pace falling right in with mine
every breath landing right on time
makes the quiet feel easy now, nothing to prove
and things fall into place when I’m with you
kinda felt like it was something
Baby you’re my star
not the kind that’s distant and far
just the one that rides in my car
talking ’bout nothing,
shining up close
You’re my star
showing up when days get hard
quick breaks at the corner shop
Right place, right time that’s you
light steps moving in a steady groove
you are the calm that my days fall into
Right place, right time that’s you
light steps moving in a steady groove
