Lost in Winter

Cold winds whisper secrets dark and deep
In the snow my heart begins to sleep
Lonely footprints trailing in the frost
Searching for the love that I had lost
Frosty breath paints the air so thin
Shivers chase the warmth beneath my skin
Eyes as gray as clouds before the storm
Where’d you go when we were safe and warm
Oh winter holds the memory so tight
Lost in the shadows of the silent night
Every snowflake carries part of me
Drifting to the place where you might be
Icicles hang like tears from the sky
Frozen moments echo your goodbye
Every corner hides a ghostly trace
I keep seeing your elusive face
Frosty breath paints the air so thin
Shivers chase the warmth beneath my skin
Eyes as gray as clouds before the storm
Where’d you go when we were safe and warm
Oh winter holds the memory so tight
Lost in the shadows of the silent night
Every snowflake carries part of me
Drifting to the place where you might be
In the night the northern lights take flight
Dancing colors almost bring delight
But I’m grounded by the lonely sway
Till your love lights up another day
Oh winter holds the memory so tight
Lost in the shadows of the silent night
Every snowflake carries part of me
Drifting to the place where you might be
Snow falls heavy on this empty town
Lovers in the white are all around
But your love is a fire long gone cold
I brave the chill your absence foretold
